We think Hollywood has become lazy and shamelessly profit oriented, seemingly more interested in launching the next action figure than producing an engaging story.

Some remakes are fantastic but it's getting out of control. Once known for cutting edge innovation and leading the way, the corporate machine has found a formula for financial success and keeps using it over and over and over...

Is this really what we want? Film by Democracy aims to find out.

To kick off the experiment, we will develop a series giving ALL creative power to the audience.

No meaningless gimmicks, no artistic egos, no illusion of control. From genre and title to the actors and soundtrack, EVERY aspect of the production is determined by you.

Via open and transparent voting, debate and creative submissions we will literally be making it up as we go along. Whatever the outcome, the series will be available to watch online for free.

It might be great. It might not, but Film by Democracy believes film should not be afraid to take risks.

Surely that’s more interesting than the formulaic shit that gets shoved down our throats these days…?

A young boy moves into a new home with his family, who are going through difficult times. As he grows detached in his new surroundings, he becomes more dependant on his teddy bear, who symbolizes the bravery he wishes he possessed. As a monster that lurks in the back yard increasingly threatens him and his family, he tries to find the courage within himself to overcome it.

WW2 France - as the local gestapo systemically eradicate members of the resistance in a French province, a small boy fleeing their reign of terror seeks refuge with a woman he's been led to believe can offer him protection. But is she who she claims to be?

A hellish storm drives an armed man to take shelter in a roadside tavern. At first appearing abandoned in a hurry, he soon discovers a man lurking in the shadows whose edgy disposition gives rise to suspicion. As they engage in idle chatter, a game of psychological cat and mouse is played out as each attempts to subversively uncover the motive the other has for being there.

When Jia [Chun Kee Claudia Teh] loses both her job and home in the one day, nothing as a new Citizen is what she expected. Over three days she will struggle against fears and enemies to find her identity, supported by Daisy [Susanna Qian], a half Chinese half Japanese ‘Harajuku’ girl, who is coming to terms with her own mixed parentage. Jia’s triad ex, Kong [Chris Pang], pursues her to get her back, to save face, and searches Melbourne for her - maybe out of genuine love.

'In Autumn' is a short film drama written by Burak Oguz Saguner and Rosanna Scarcella based on Stefanie Borges' short screenplay 'Gold Fish Bowl.' Rosanna will direct, Burak is the cinematographer and this is our third film collaboration. 'In Autumn' is set and filmed in Melbourne and will commence shooting next month. Three miners trapped underground have captivated audiences around the world. Their devout wives have now become celebrities.

A young lady turns up to the site uninvited. The wives want her gone but she has a story to tell – she is having an affair with one of the miners and she wants her share of the fame. One-by-one the mistresses turn up to the site as the whole world watches the cat fight unfold.
